Let this original Forum of the clan once known as Assualt Force of the Republic or {AFOR} to forever be a grave of that same clan. As a former member of this clan I feel obligated to make this post so that none may forget the greatness of its founder or original members. This clan was possibly the best thing that ever happened to me, I made friends and enemies, became more confident as a leader, and grew as a person. This clan represented all that I could look forward to in the years of my life to come.
Even though this clan seemed nothing more than a group of gaming missfits in a game that would inevitably die it was more, much more. The original members of this clan made sure this game wasn't just to see who was the best in competitions but was created to have fun. They didn't care if they were baulked at by other bigger clans or weren't as orginized as they should have been, they didn't even care that their forum was "crap" because it was from proboards. The members just wanted to have fun and it gave themselves pride to wear their tags ingame and tell people who asked what {AFOR} was they would proudly tell them.
This clan went on for roughly a year untill it was ended with four of its original members still intact and a large family of about 30 or so members. We never placed first in any events. We weren't the largest clan. We weren't the first gaming clan for Republic Commando. We never even had a server. But one thing I can proudly say about this clan is that it had the most dedicated core group of members who gave their time and effort scrapping together enough resources to obtain any goal.
I want to say I was in that core group with some of the greatest people I'll know. There isn't a day where any of us wish that we were back in the old days and that {AFOR} was still one of the gaming clans in Republic Commando. We could restart it but it wouldn't have the same soul.
When any group is created it creates this being, this person. Then when an organization disbands that person dies while its soul and spirit lives on. {AFOR} wasn't only a gaming clan it was an ideal that all gaming clans should understand, Competitions and Ranks be d**ned, To play an online game in a gaming clan is to make the game that much more of an expierience.
And with this final message I invite all former {AFOR} members to come and pay omage to their beginning or in some cases end of careers in gaming clans. Leave a Reply to this message of remembrance.
